Leadership Institute

 

The Leadership Institute is the maniefestation of one Prism's core purposes: to cultivate leadership. The best thing about this program is it meets participants where they are. Some of our members need help with job applications and cover letter writing. Others want to learn how to serve on a board or learn how to invest money wisely. And others, even still, want to learn how to be activists and advcates in their communities.

 

From Prism's beginning, we often had guest speakers at our regular social/support group who taught members all of these skills and more. We have collaborated with MeckPac (Mecklenburg's LGBT Political Action Committee), the Charlotte Business Guild, NAACP, HRC, the LGBT Democrats, Equality NC, representatives from Moral Monday, faith leaders, and local elected officials. The groups were so popular that we decided to create a separate program. 

 

The Leadership Institute helps members reach their own personal goals, not the goals others think they should be reaching. We provide these lessons through workshops, small groups, and hands-on activities.
